Configure Mail.app
Part 2 -- Sending Mail Setup

Mail.app is a POP/IMAP email client made by Apple available only on Mac OS-X. When these instructions are followed, you will be able to check your email both via Mail.app and the webmail interface.

Adding AN IMAP account

mailapp_prefmenu.jpg IMAP allows you to check your mail. To add an IMAP mailbox, open the preferences panel. The panel is located by clicking on Mail in the top tool bar next to the blue apple and then clicking Preferences.  Once in the Preferences menu, click on Accounts to add a new account.  Next click on the silver plus (+) at the bottom of the window.  This will open the first dialog.

In the second box, Account Description, enter a name to identify this mailbox.  In the third box, Full Name, place the name you want connected to this MLDS email address.  Most often this will be your name. Finally the last box, Email Address, should be set to the full email address given to you by MLDS.  Click on the image at the left to see an example.

The first, Incoming Mail Server, should be set to MLDS's IMAP server. It is mail.michiganlivestock.com.  The second box, User Name, is your full email address: ' This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it '. Finally the last box should be filled with the password set up with MLDS.  This box will only show dots when you type to protect your password.  Click on the image at the right to see a larger example.

Click Continue to go onto SMTP setup (Sending Mail). Mail.app will check at this point if it can connect to the MLDS server and pick up your mail.  If it can, it will go to the next window. If not, check over your settings again.

Congratulations! We are almost done!  One last step and your email will be at your control with the power of Mail.app.
