There was a major outage where a fiber optic line was cut between Lansing and our ISP. This caused service to be affected for a much longer period of time than is acceptable. Notes on updates
Recent Outages
Recently there have been two major outages that were unexpected. The first was that a failing switch was causing access to the data center to be interrupted. The defective hardware has been replaced.
The second was about 4 hours of total outage due to a construction accident causing power to the data center to be cut along with the backup power. Service was restored quickly and MLDS would like to thank Consumers Energy for quickly responding to the mistake.
